- Father James P. Barry was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a male minor child from approximately 1977 when the male child was approximately 8 years old to approximately 1978 when the male child was approximately 9 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Barry was assigned to St. Boniface’s Church, Jersey City, NJ. The sexual abuse occurred in the sacristy of the church.
- The sexual abuse by Father Barry included the following: Father Barry fondling the male minor child’s genitals; Father Barry making the male child fondle Father Barry’s penis; and Father Barry making the male child perform oral sex on Father Barry.
- The claim settled in 2025 in the mid five figures.
