- Father Jose S. Ferreira, also known as Father Jose DaSilva Ferreira, worked in the Diocese of Vila Real, Portugal before coming to the Archdiocese of Boston in 1974. At least one individual has come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Father Ferreira, which occurred during Father Ferreira’s assignment to St. Anthony’s Church in Cambridge, MA.
- Father Ferreira was accused of sexually abusing a male minor child on at least twenty occasions from approximately 1985 until approximately 1988 when the boy was approximately eleven to fourteen years of age. The sexual abuse took place in Father Ferreira’s office in the rectory of St. Anthony’s Church, as well as in the sacristy located in the basement of St. Anthony’s Church.
- The sexual abuse by Father Ferreira consisted of the following: Father Ferreira fondling the boy’s penis and testicles skin-on-skin; Father Ferreira forcing the boy to fondle Father Ferreira’s penis and testicles, skin-on-skin; and Father Ferreira kissing the boy on the boy’s lips.
- The claim settled in 2025 in the high five figures.
