- Father Paul J. McLaughlin was accused of sexually abusing a male minor child on at least ten occasions from approximately 1967 to 1969 when the boy was approximately 8 to 10 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father McLaughlin was assigned to St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott, Massachusetts.
- The sexual abuse by Father McLaughlin included the following: Father McLaughlin fondled the boy’s penis and testicles over the boy’s clothing; and Father McLaughlin took the boy and other children skinny dipping.
- The Archdiocese of Boston agreed to settle the claim in 2021.
