- Father William M. Giblin was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a male minor child from approximately 1975 when the child was approximately 12 years old to approximately 1978 when the child was approximately 14 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Giblin was assigned to Seton Hall Prep, South Orange, NJ. The sexual abuse occurred in Father Giblin’s residence near the campus of Seton Hall Prep, where the male child delivered newspapers to Father Giblin.
- The sexual abuse by Father Giblin included the following: Father Giblin kissing the male child’s face, including his lips; Father Giblin touching and fondling the male child’s penis; Father Giblin forcing the male child to touch Father Giblin’s penis and put Father Giblin’s penis in the child’s mouth; and Father Giblin penetrating the male child’s anus with Father Giblin’s penis.
- The claim settled in 2025 in the mid six figures.
