Summary:
  • Father Arthur Devlin, S.M. was accused of sexually abusing a male minor child on at least three occasions in approximately 1959 when the male child was approximately thirteen years old. The boy came to know Father Devlin because Father Devlin was apparently the nephew of Father Charles McInnis, the pastor of Our Lady of Presentation Church in Brighton, Massachusetts, the boy’s parish.
  • The sexual abuse by Father Devlin took place in multiple locations when Father Devlin took the boy on trips. The abuse included the following: Father Devlin fondled the boy’s penis and testicles, skin-on-skin, and Father Devlin inserted his finger into the boy’s anus.
  • The claim settled in April 2020 in the mid five figures.
