Summary:
  • Father Francis Stinner was accused of sexually abusing a male minor child on at least two occasions in approximately 1972 when the male child was approximately fourteen years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Stinner was assigned to John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen, New York, and the boy was a student at the school. The sexual abuse took place in the rectory near St. John Neumann Church.
  • The sexual abuse by Father Stinner included the following: Father Stinner forced the boy to expose the boy’s penis to Father Stinner; and Father Stinner forced the boy to perform oral sex on Father Stinner.
  • The claim settled in February 2020 in the low six figures.

Summary:
  • Father Gerard Sudol was accused of sexually abusing a female minor child on one occasion in approximately 1985 when the girl was approximately 13 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Sudol was assigned to Holy Family Church in Nutley, New Jersey, and the girl was a student at the affiliated Holy Family School.
  • The sexual abuse by Father Sudol took place during a class field trip to New York. While Father Sudol was swimming in a pool with the girl, Father Sudol reached inside the girl’s bathing suit and penetrated her vagina and rectum with his finger.
  • The claim settled in 2020 in the mid five figures.

  • Father Bernard L. Sullivan was accused of sexually abusing a male minor child on at least six occasions from approximately 1970 to 1973 when the boy was approximately 10 to 13 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Sullivan was assigned to St. Catherine of Genoa Church in Somerville, Massachusetts, and the boy was an altar boy at the church.
  • The sexual abuse by Father Sullivan included the following: Father Sullivan told the boy to take all of his clothes off; Father Sullivan made the boy sit on Father Sullivan’s lap; and Father Sullivan masturbated the boy.
  • The Archdiocese of Boston agreed to settle the claim in 2021.
