  • Father Ginty died in 1985.
  • Father Ginty was accused of sexually abusing a female minor child on one occasion in approximately 1968 when the girl was approximately 10 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Ginty was assigned to Church of the Nativity in El Monte, California, and the girl was attending CCD classes through Church of the Nativity.
  • The sexual abuse by Father Ginty took place on a playground near Church of the Nativity and included the following: Father Ginty reached into the top of the girl’s top and fondled her breasts, skin-on-skin.
  • The claim settled in 2020 in the low five figures.

Summary:
  • Bishop Gutierrez was accused of sexually abusing a male minor child on at least 6 occasions from approximately 1970 until approximately 1971 when the boy was approximately 11 to 12 years old. At the time of the sexual abuse, Bishop Gutierrez was a visiting priest at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belle Harbor, New York.
  • The sexual abuse by Bishop Gutierrez included the following: Bishop Gutierrez fondling the boy’s genitals skin on skin, and sometimes Bishop Gutierrez fondling himself while he fondled the boy’s genitals.
  • The Diocese of Brooklyn agreed to settle the claim in the low to mid six figures 2021.
  • Bishop Gutierrez died in February 2019.

  • The Archdiocese of Boston agreed to settle the claim in 2021.
